Kenneth G. Tody, age 81 of Ashland, died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at his home. He was born January 16, 1932 in Hayward, WI, the son of Phillip and Ethel (LaFernier) Tody of the Sanborn area.
Ken worked for logging and sawmill operations at age 15. In 1952 he joined the Army. He served two years in Germany with the Army Engineers during the Korean War. After his return he continued working for logging operations. In 1966 he worked at the Beloit Corporation of Ashland as a service representative until their closing. Ken worked for Northern Clearing of Ashland as an equipment mechanic until 1972. He then worked for Bayside Timber where he helped construct the chipping mill and worked there as a superintendent for 22 years until his retirement in 1994. He married Linda M. Arringdale in 1986. Together they had one son Ken Jr. in 1987. Ken enjoyed trout fishing, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling with his son.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Ashland; one son, Ken Jr., of Ashland; 4 brothers, Mervin (Harriet) Tody, of Ashland, Walter (Areolene) Tody, of Randall, MN, Dick Tody, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Jim (Judy) Fletcher, of Ashland; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Phillip; and three sisters, Karen Weaver, Janice Blad and Eleanor Tody.
A Graveside and United Chequamegon Bay Veterans Service will be held 2 pm on Friday, September 20, 2013 at the St. Agnes Cemetery in Ashland.
The Roberts Funeral Home in Ashland is assisting the family with arrangements.
