Lorraine M. Mattson, age 81, of Washburn, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Golden Living Center Court Manor in Ashland. She was born February 2, 1932 in Washburn, the daughter of Clarence “Blackie” and Stella (Badura) Zanto.
Lorraine was a lifelong resident of Washburn and graduated from Washburn High School. She worked at numerous bars and restaurants in the area throughout her life. She enjoyed her job at the Washburn Public Schools as a cook for 15 years before her retirement.
She is survived by four children, Phillip Mattson – Washburn, Jack (Chris) Mattson – Washburn, Robert (Monique) Mattson Jr. – Washburn and Sandra (Jim) Waldrop – Hayward, 9 grandchildren, Kim, Shawn, Matt, Luke, Lindley, Mark, Robert, Jocelyn and Casey, 7 great-grandchildren, Annie, Owen, Ari, Layla, Alyna, Xoe and Ella, 3 brothers, Dick Zanto – Washburn, Ray (Charlene) Zanto – Menasha and Jim Zanto – Washburn, a brother-in-law, Francis Carlson – Washburn, numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend, Jan Sorenson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jeffrey Mattson and a sister, Betty Carlson.
A private family graveside service and inurnment will be held at a later date at the Calvary Cemetery in Washburn. The family would like to give special thanks to the nursing home staff for the wonderful care she received while at Court Manor.
